Abu Dhabi Central Post Office supports "Defenders of the Flag" campaign

Abu Dhabi Central Post Office, one of the locations supporting the 'Defenders of the Flag' campaign launched by Watani Al Emarat Foundation, has witnessing high interest from customers in knowing more about the rules of using the national flag.

Watani has set up a booth at the Abu Dhabi Central Post Office for distributing flags and booklets, and for providing information about the campaign to customers and also collect used and discarded flags from the public and give them new ones.

Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates Post Group, Mr. Ibrahim Bin Karam, said: "Watani is performing an important duty in spreading awareness about the need to respect the national flag, and Emirates Post Group is happy to support them in this noble task. We believe the campaign will help promote a culture of respect for the UAE flag, and ensure that government bodies, citizens and residents understand the right ways of handling and using the flag."

Director of the Abu Dhabi Central Post Office said customers were very keen to be part of the campaign and many promised to come back with their old flags so that they could collect new ones. She said the campaign will strengthen national loyalty among citizens as well as expatriates.

The First Postal Zone is contacting several educational institutions in the locality to send school children to support the campaign by visiting the Watani booth at the post office and collect leaflets.

The 'Defenders of the Flag' campaign is one of the initiatives approved by Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to spread respect for the national flag.

The campaign seeks to enlighten the public on the need to protect the sanctity of the flag by ensuring that the flags used are in good and neat condition. Toward this end, EPG volunteers are educating the community on how to dispose of worn-out or damaged flags at different post offices and give new ones.
